Open Heart Retreat

Lake Atitlán in Guatemala

January 29-February 4, 2027

Come away with us to Lake Atitlán for a week of movement, connection, adventure, and deep rest.

The Open Heart Retreat is your chance to step out of your everyday routine and reconnect—with yourself, with nature, and with a group of incredible women doing the same.

Our days will start with energizing vinyasa flows overlooking the lake, followed by time to journal, reflect, and just be. Throughout the week, we’ll drop into breathwork circles with Kristin Royseland, creating space to release, reset, and open up in a deeper way.

Evenings are all about winding down with slow, grounding yin before bed.

What’s included:

  • 1 Night in Antigua, 5 Nights at Casa Paloma

  • Daily vinyasa + nightly yin

  • Meditation, journaling and breathwork sessions

  • Chef-prepared meals

  • Lake access right from the property

  • 10 min walk to San Marcos

  • 2 curated excursions and 1 cacao ceremony around Lake Atitlán

  • Volcano and Lake views

  • Top quality mattresses and bedding

  • Laundry services provided

This week isn’t about doing more—it’s about making space for more.

Come ready for adventure, a lot of presence, and the kind of reset that actually stays with you.

Casa Paloma

The Main House

Pajaro: Shared

  • Pájaro sits at the very top of the villa, reached by a spiral staircase, with treetop views and a private balcony perfect for morning coffee or stargazing. The room has a lot of personality — a living tree branch forms a bench beside an avocado-wood writing desk, and a skylight lets the moonlight in. A grand balcony looks out over the lake and volcanoes, and if you sleep with the windows open, you'll wake up to birdsong.

One thing to know: Pájaro's private bathroom is reached by a second spiral staircase leading back downstairs. It's part of the charm, but if stairs are a concern, this one might not be the right fit.

    Capacity: 2 double beds

Bathroom: Private (down a spiral staircase)

Location: Main house, near the shores of the lake

Fair warning: there are no curtains, so early risers will feel right at home.

Tuk Tuk : Shared

  • Tuk Tuk is a ground-floor room full of color and handcrafted detail — named for the painting of the little vehicles that zip through town. The room features a built-in desk, handcrafted wall art, handmade Mexican dolls, and a gorgeous hand-crafted candelabra. Both beds are draped with curtains, so sleepers can rest easy while the morning sun does its thing.

A wall of windows opens onto a private patio with a hanging basket chair and built-in bench — a lovely spot to unwind. Even the bathroom has a view.

One practical note: Tuk Tuk has limited internet, but step out to your patio and you'll have a signal — and a pretty great view to go with it.

    Capacity: 2 queen beds

    Bathroom: Private

    Location: Ground floor, main house

  • Shared room with one other person. Price $4,095 per person.

The Casitas

Azul: Single

  • Azul sits right at the water's edge, decorated head to toe in its namesake color — handwoven blue textiles, hand-painted blue ceramics, embroidered huipiles on the walls, carved blue birds, and a floor the color of the lake itself. Open the French doors and you'll fall asleep to the sound of gentle waves and birdsong.

The balcony leads to a beautiful bathroom with Dutch doors and custom Italian tiles. The standout feature: a deep soaking tub for two, open to the lake under a high palm roof — private despite the open-air setting.

One thing to note: Azul shares a bathroom with the guest in Piedra. The layout is thoughtfully designed, with the shower and toilet separated from the sink area for privacy.

    Capacity: 1 queen bed

    Bathroom: Shared with Piedra

Location: Main house, at the water's edge

  • Private room for one person. $4,495

Piedra: Single

  • Piedra is a one-of-a-kind room built entirely of local stone, with hand-carved stone heads embedded in the walls and bamboo doors that open directly onto a private beach. It's a snug, special space — particularly well suited to a solo traveler looking for quiet and a close connection to nature. An early morning swim or a late-night dip is just a step away.

Piedra shares a bathroom with the guest in Azul, reached through a glass door and a short climb up.

    Capacity: 1 twin bed

    Bathroom: Shared with Azul

Location: Main house, at the water's edge

  • Private room. Price $4,395.

Count the Ways: Single

  • Count the Ways — named after one of the property owner's novels — is a casita designed to feel like the inside of a boat, complete with ship-style windows that open by pulley and a prow that juts out toward the lake and volcano. Exposed beams, an antique hand-carved armoire, a hand-painted table, and hand-woven textiles give the space a cozy, rustic feel. Look up and you'll spot a collection of hand-carved wooden owls perched in the beams.

Just outside on the path, a private bamboo-walled bathroom features a ceramic sink decorated with hand-painted birds — and a shower with a volcano view.

    Capacity: 1 queen bed

Bathroom: Private, just outside the casita

Location: Closest casita to the outdoor kitchen

  • Private room for one person. $4,595

At Home in the World : Shared

  • At Home in the World is decorated with local textiles and masks. A handcrafted avocado wood desk, curtained windows, and a private veranda with views of the gardens, lake, and volcano make it a comfortable home base for the week.

Just outside the door, a few stone steps lead to a private bathroom with a hand-painted ceramic sink from a local pottery. There's also a secluded outdoor writing table for quieter moments.

The real highlight is the open-air, thatched-roof sitting room overlooking the lake — with a writing desk and a couch so comfortable it has been known to double as a nap spot.

Capacity: 2 singles (bed shown in photo will be separated into two beds)

Bathroom: Private, just outside the casita

Location: Casita (separate from main house)

Click on photo to learn more on Casa Paloma’s site.

  • Shared room with one other person. Price $4,095 per person.

Casa Una 2 : Single

  • Casa Una 2 sits at the highest point on the entire property, with custom adobe walls, an avocado wood desk, a private balcony, and some of the best lake and volcano views Casa Paloma has to offer. You'll feel completely tucked away up here — just you and the birds.

The bathroom is large and bright, with a huge shower and floor-to-ceiling windows. A built-in armoire just outside the door handles all your storage needs.

    Capacity: 1 queen bed

    Bathroom: Private

Location: Highest room on the property, Casa Una

A note about Casa Una: Getting here means climbing the equivalent of four flights of stairs — twice a day, at altitude. It's worth every step, but we want you to go in with eyes open. If that's a physical concern, one of our other rooms might be a better fit. The stairs are lit at night throughout the property, but make no mistake: Casa Una may take your breath away. For a minute or two, anyway.

Capacity: 2 single beds (the bed in photo will be separated into two single beds.)

    Location: Ground floor, Casa Una

  • The Bird Nest is the most private space on the property — set apart from the other casitas, with its own stone entryway lined with roses and hand-carved stone heads, a tile patio, and a kitchenette built of conacaste wood with a center island, coffee maker, mini refrigerator, and sink.

Inside, a wall of curtained windows frames the lake and volcano, and a balcony with comfortable seating beckons just beyond. The queen bed has a custom conacaste wood headboard, and just a few steps away, a soaking tub sits under a hand-tied palm palapa roof on a hand-laid stone floor.

The finishing touch: a set of stone steps leads up to a private rooftop garden with a teak chaise lounge for two, roses in bloom, bamboo swaying behind you, and birdsong in every direction.
